About This Place

Nestled in the vibrant Richmond District of San Francisco, Sweet Mango Dessert Cafe is a haven for dessert lovers seeking a tantalizing blend of Asian-inspired sweets and savory bites. This cozy dessert shop at 5217 Geary Blvd exudes a warm, inviting atmosphere, perfect for both casual meet-ups and after-dinner indulge sessions.

Sweet Mango delights with an eclectic menu that goes far beyond the typical dessert fare. Their signature Honey Toast Castle is a decadent tower of fluffy golden toast drizzled with honey—each bite a perfect balance of crisp exterior and pillowy softness. Fans rave about the Glutinous Rice Ball with Crushed Peanuts Hot, where chewy rice balls enveloped in a nutty, fragrant coating provide comfort in every spoonful. For those who crave creamy textures, the Ice Cream Crepes and the exquisite Durian Crepe Cake offer layers of delicate sweetness and richness that linger pleasantly on the palate.

Sweet Mango’s dessert repertoire also features an intriguing array of traditional and innovative options. The Crystal Snow and Bird's Nest with Mango Ice Cream (椰汁雪蛤燕窩撈) blends tropical mango sweetness with smooth, cool textures and subtle herbal notes that transport you to another world. The Mixed Fruits Mango Pudding bursts with fresh fruit flavors, while the Red Bean Taro Sago conjures nostalgia with its velvety sweetness and chewy sago pearls.

But Sweet Mango isn’t just about desserts. Their savory selections like Salt and Pepper Chicken Wings, Popcorn Chicken, and the unexpectedly satisfying Chicken Cutlet with Spaghetti offer hearty companions to the sweeter treats, striking a brilliant balance for those who want variety in their dining experience.

Many customers have made Sweet Mango a beloved local gem. Cynthia Bueno has been a loyal patron for over seven years, especially cherishing the mango juice with glutinous rice balls and the jade toast, often bringing friends and family back to share in the experience. Families appreciate its flexibility, as A. Ko notes it’s one of their go-to spots for a casual after-dinner hangout where both kids and adults find something to enjoy. Though some mention the menu’s pricing is a touch higher and cash-only policy might surprise newcomers, the generous portions and quality make it worthwhile, as Kelly Sison points out after savoring their mango drinks.

From the first sip of their luscious mango jelly drinks to the last bite of their crispy, perfectly seasoned chicken wings, Sweet Mango Dessert Cafe offers more than just food—it creates moments of joy, comfort, and connection.

If your sweet tooth craves an adventurous exploration of flavors paired with the cozy charm of a neighborhood dessert spot, Sweet Mango is undoubtedly a destination to remember on your San Francisco culinary journey.

Loooove this place, been coming here for 7 years now. My favorites are the glutinous rice balls in mango juice w/mixed fruits, sesame paste with glutinous rice balls, and jade toast :D I bring all my friends here, and my little sisters ask me to bring them here any time they visit SF. There's something on the menu for everyone and prices are reasonable, more affordable than Kowloon. Service is ok, what you can expect from a Hong Kong cafe. There is an area to self-serve surprisingly good hot tea or ice water.

Sweet Mango is one of our go to places when we are looking for an after dinner hang out. Usually able to get a table before it gets super crowded and we have to wait. We can come here with adults and kids and the menu has something for everyone. Desserts are decent. The only one that I had that seems lacking is the sesame balls in ginger soup. Balls are a little small and not shareable if you’re like me and like them!

Little more expensive than what I'm used to paying but good portion size. We ordered 2 different mango drinks, both very good and would definitely go again to try more of their drinks. Maybe the downside for some people was they only accepted cash.
